About The Position

This position is a civilian role within the Police Department that provides a variety of professional, technical, management and administrative support to the Department, management staff and departmental personnel. This position assists with overall departmental workflow and process improvement including handling of confidential materials, analysis of data, generation and presentation of reports, standard operating procedures, correspondence, and maintaining positive public relations with the public and within the organization. This position routinely handles highly sensitive and/or confidential information. The Management Analyst will perform skilled research and analysis tasks as well as complete special projects and other related duties as assigned. This position requires a high level of discretion and the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Basic organization and functions of a municipal law enforcement agency.
  • Procedures and techniques for dealing with the public in a tactful, but firm, manner.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Requires high school diploma or GED
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate certification required for specialized assignments related to this position.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of law enforcement field experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs professional technical, analytical, and administrative duties in support of Police Administration including coordinating police records management process, grant application preparation and administration, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
  • Oversees the day-to-day administration of the department’s records functions to include records management, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, subpoenas, parking and traffic citations, and litigation.
  • Collects and analyzes a variety of geographic or social information in support of crime analysis activities. Utilizes sources from various calls for services, demographic, and other related data to display information analysis to police administrators and City officials.
  • Assists in administering a variety of police tracking and records management systems.
  • Assists in generating and preparing local, state, and federally mandated Uniform Crime and Arrest Reports.
  • Assists in developing year-end statistical reports for police administrators.
  • Coordinates and compiles departmental or divisional performance measures, performs trend analyses, generates monthly and other statistical progress reports.
  • Collects, analyzes, prepares and disseminates information related to department’s activity to departments, public, outside agencies and citizens.
  • Collects and submits statistical information to required agencies or those requesting such information.
  • Coordinates the request for reports from internal departments and outside agencies.
  • Assists in the research, analysis and preparation of departmental reports. Disseminates information as requested.
  • Administers, writes, and prepares assigned grants. Serves as a liaison between assignment and grantors.
  • Composes correspondence and/or proofread documents that may contain sensitive personnel information.
  • Process Freedom of Information Act requests made to the Department by coordinating with City Clerk’s Office, communicating with requesters, researching records and preparing responses.
  • Assist leadership with compilation reports upon request and prepare written reports as needed.
