About The Position

This is a full-time position located in Augusta and allows for partial teleworking with management approval. The position is responsible for account reconciliations and reporting as well as maintaining financial controls for numerous lines of business pertaining to the recovery of funds. The Recovery Division’s primary scope of work includes depositing money, establishing receivables, and collecting millions of dollars in identified debt owed to DHHS annually, from a variety of sources. The work completed in this position contributes to the development of business processes and accounting controls to implement and maintain sound fiscal practices, while maintaining working relationships with providers and customers to which you are seeking repayment. This position applies fiscal analysis with an important forward-facing provider/client focus.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of education, training, and/or experience analyzing, evaluating, and/or developing improvements to organizational and/or managerial systems, programs, and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of complex accounting principles.
  • Prior experience and/or education which demonstrates knowledge of GAAP/GASB, accounting data analysis, and accounting reconciliations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in operations and/or financial management planning and/or AR and Collections practices across several state and federally regulated programs.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering, reviewing, and understanding financial data from multiple systems and sources to complete account reconciliations and reporting.
  • Ensure that all reports are well-designed, checked for accuracy, and are nearly self-explanatory to the user.
  • Reconcile various accounting systems and identify issues or errors to initiate corrections and make adjusting entries when necessary.
  • Formulate and recommend improvements to systems and processes through evaluation, analysis, and application of accounting theory to eliminate future problems and improve processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze systemic and data-driven processes, providing recommendations and proposed solutions, leveraging standardization and automation to maximize efficiencies.
