About The Position

Segra is hiring a full-time Managed Services Engineer II, Data Services. This role applies systems analysis techniques, network design methodology, and engineering judgment to architect, configure, deploy, and maintain Segra’s managed data-services platform. The engineer analyzes customer requirements and translates them into technical specifications for Layer 2 and Layer 3 solutions, develops and tests automation scripts for device provisioning and configuration management, and designs IP addressing schemes across complex multi-site environments. The role involves independently evaluating network topologies, diagnosing service-affecting conditions, and recommending design modifications. The engineer collaborates with internal engineering teams and external customers across enterprise, government, and carrier segments. The position has a first-shift schedule and a rotating on-call obligation. The work arrangement is hybrid, with at least three days per week in a Segra office and the flexibility to work remotely two days per week. Segra provides fiber-enabled connectivity, cybersecurity, voice, cloud, and colocation solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressive technical experience.
At least 5 years of progressive experience in systems analysis, network design, or software/script development within telecommunications or information technology environments.
Demonstrated application of systems analysis techniques to data managed-services design and deployment.
Experience designing, developing, testing, and documenting configuration specifications for data managed-services solutions.
Experience analyzing customer requirements and translating them into technical specifications in collaboration with customers and vendors.
Ability to systematically diagnose and resolve complex technical issues and document them thoroughly in ticketing and configuration-management platforms.
Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 circuit operation, including VPLS, VPRN, and DIA/IES services with Border Gateway Protocol.
Ability to provision and troubleshoot Meraki MX and MS devices, Arista Velocloud, Fortinet, and Adtran routers and switches.
Systems analysis and solution-design skills, including applying advanced product knowledge to develop technically sound configurations.
Ability to isolate root causes through systematic evaluation of configurations, logs, and protocol behavior.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
