About The Position

The Mammography Technologist independently performs screening and diagnostic mammography exams according to institutional policies, practice standards, and directives from the interpreting physician. The role administers ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes and assists the interpreting physician with diagnostic procedures in breast imaging. The technologist follows departmental exam protocols and professional standards, and participates in quality control and quality assurance activities.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited Radiological Technologist program.
• Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy certification or licensure is required.
• ARRT certification in Mammography is required.
• Ability to obtain BLS during employment.

Nice To Haves

• 3–5 years of experience as a radiologic technologist.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography procedures in accordance with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Mammography Practice Standards and ASRT Code of Ethics.
• Understand and adhere to departmental exam protocols.
• Actively participate in quality control and quality assurance activities using the APIE model.
• Perform screening and diagnostic mammography exams according to institutional policies and practice standards, and follow the interpreting physician’s directives to assist with exam completion.
• Assist the interpreting physician as directed during diagnostic procedures in breast imaging.
