About The Position

Lourdes Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Mammography Technician to join their team. This role is crucial in providing vital mammography services to the community. The technician will be responsible for educating patients, preparing them for procedures, administering contrast media when ordered, monitoring patient condition, and potentially assisting with interventional procedures. They will also select appropriate exposure factors, implement safety standards, perform quality control, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
  • WA State Radiation Operator License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.
