About The Position

Performs radiographic and/or medical imaging and related procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical Diploma
  • Graduate of accredited radiographic program
  • Advance Mammography from the ARRT (RT)(M) is required within one (1) year of employment

  • Properly determines exposure techniques and factors.
  • Maximizes productivity and efficiency with national benchmarks.
  • Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination, explaining the need for breast compression during mammography.
  • Performs radiography of pathologic breast specimens.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Ensures all requested examinations are completed prior to releasing patient.
  • Maintains quality control and quality assurance in the assigned division.
  • Evaluates mammograms or other breast images for technical quality, assuring proper identification required documentation is recorded.
  • Performs daily required quality control activities and reports equipment malfunctions, as required.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available by a licensed practitioner.
  • Applies principals of radiation protection, when appropriate to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Participates in quality assessment and improvement plan.
  • May be responsible for specific quality control duties in assigned areas.
  • Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider.
  • Provides patient education, including breast self-examination techniques.
  • Provides appropriate follow-up on mammography procedures as required by ACR and FDA guidelines.
  • Communicates variances and/or significant events to appropriate caregiver in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with members of other disciplines to assure efficient quality patient care.
