Performs a variety of breast imaging procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and competency. This position is bonus eligible. The role involves obtaining optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation while performing screening mammograms and diagnostic breast imaging studies. It also includes assisting the radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies, and assessing patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic patients. The technologist will cover other functions in the department as deemed necessary, provide radiation protection in accordance with proper standards, and remain abreast of changes and new procedures by attending educational seminars or classes and reading job related material. Staying updated on organizational, affiliate, and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift is also required. This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
