About The Position

The Phantom Fall Fest Makeup Artist is primarily responsible for transforming Team Members into chilling and/or realistic characters for the attraction. This role involves expertly applying makeup and prosthetics according to the established design for the attraction. The Makeup Artist collaborates closely with Costume Specialists to ensure cohesive and impactful looks for all Halloween characters.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be able to obtain Working Papers if under the age of 18.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work for scheduled shifts.
• Exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner.
• Ability to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a fast-paced team.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
• Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time while applying makeup.
• Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders.
• Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, move objects/tools.
• Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.

Nice To Haves

• Previous acting or costume character experience is desired but not required.
• Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
• Previous special effects makeup experience and portfolio is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Transform Team Members into chilling and/or realistic characters.
• Expertly apply makeup and prosthetics according to the attraction's design.
• Create cohesive looks for Halloween characters in collaboration with Costume Specialists.
• Engage with guests and other team members in a fun and welcoming manner.
• Add makeup and/or prosthetics to character performers to fit the design and theming of specific attractions and events.
• Apply makeup efficiently and hygienically, ensuring comfort for the wearer.
• Create attention-grabbing make-up designs to enhance the realism of the character.
• Create stunning visuals and special effects that add realism and/or shock factor to character appearances.
• Work closely with the Costume Specialist, Wardrobe Assistants, performers, and event leadership to ensure makeup complements costumes and overall character portrayal.
• Troubleshoot and touch up makeup throughout the event as needed, adapting to various conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
• Manage time effectively to ensure all performers are ready on schedule.
• Proactively monitor assigned areas and quickly identify and escalate any safety hazards or other risks to the proper authorities.
• Ensure compliance with and enforce all park policies, procedures, and labor laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
