Through the Deerfield Public Library's MakerSpace internship, you'll help bring ideas to life while gaining valuable, real-world experience. Our dynamic MakerSpace is a busy hub for both patrons and staff, offering a wide variety of programs, workshops, and creative projects every day. As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment, support engaging events, provide outstanding customer service, and learn alongside experienced staff. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active MLIS/MLS students encouraged to apply
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Robust computer and technology skills, experience with MakerSpace technologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the MakerSpace staff to assist in all aspects of the daily operation and use of the MakerSpace.
  • Provide excellent customer service while working at the MakerSpace service desk.
  • Answer phone calls and help patrons with both scheduled and walk-in projects.
  • Assist patrons and staff with MakerSpace related equipment, software, and activities.
  • Operate and provide basic troubleshooting for MakerSpace equipment.
  • Assist Library staff with planned programs and events, including setup tasks and guiding patrons.
