About The Position

We are looking for a curious, creative, and customer-focused Makerspace Advisor to provide hands-on support, teach customers how to use Makerspace equipment, and develop engaging programs for the Makerplace, our 8,000 sq ft standalone makerspace. This role involves helping the community make creativity accessible through various making and creating activities.

Requirements

Genuine enthusiasm for making, tinkering, or hands-on technology
A passion for helping people and delivering outstanding customer service
Strong customer service, communication, and presentation skills
Experience with technologies such as 3D printing, design software, laser cutting, sewing, embroidery, or similar maker tools.
At least 2 years of customer service experience
A positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work with staff and customers in alignment with Our Culture and IDEA
High school diploma/GED required.
Part-time position, 22 hours per week.
Flexibility in scheduling required as hours will include daytime, evening and weekend hours including alternating weekend shifts to accommodate the Makerplace schedule.

Nice To Haves

2-3 years college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

Help customers use Makerspace equipment, software, and creative tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing and embroidery machines, vinyl cutters, and more.
Teach one-on-one, small group, and public workshops for a variety of ages and skill levels.
Develop engaging classes, project templates, and instructional materials.
Troubleshoot equipment and help maintain a welcoming, organized Makerspace.
Stay current on emerging maker technologies and creative trends.
