About The Position

Coach in various secondary school interscholastic athletic programs. This role involves promoting sports within the schools and community, planning the assigned athletic program, and organizing and supervising practices. The coach will teach fundamental skills, team play, strategy, rules, good sportsmanship, and self-control. Responsibilities also include checking participant eligibility, providing students with a positive role model and guidance, conducting learning experiences, and recommending equipment purchases for student welfare. The position requires knowledge of sports fundamentals, health and safety regulations, and interpersonal skills. The ability to assist other coaches, follow directions, and interpret rules and regulations is also necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
A minimum of 64 semester hours from an accredited college or university.
One year of experience coaching in a school athletic program.
Successful completion of any and all required training per board policy; including but limited: physical and emotional development of students, school’s discipline policies, procedures for dealing with discipline problems and safety and first aid training(CPR/AED certification).
A clear criminal records check.
Follows all KHSAA guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

Promote sports in the schools and community.
Plan the assigned athletic program.
Organize and supervise practices.
Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
Teach good sportsmanship and self-control.
Check eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
Conduct learning experiences, with small groups of student athletes.
Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of students athletes.
Perform related duties as assigned.
