Stantec’s Infrastructure US West team is seeking a Major Accounts Commercial Manager to provide senior commercial leadership for major accounts containing mega-projects in design, project management, and construction management, primarily focused in California. This role is intended to support non-alternative project delivery (non-APD) work, with emphasis on commercially complex infrastructure programs delivered outside alternative project delivery models. This role will also provide commercial management leadership across the broader US West Infrastructure portfolio, including Transit & Rail, Highway/Roadway, Airports, and Ports, with a core emphasis on Transit & Rail infrastructure in California. Role Purpose The Major Accounts Commercial Manager is a senior, client-facing seller-doer leadership role responsible for supporting major account growth, client success, and delivery excellence. The role will lead strategic commercial management for California Infrastructure major accounts, help position US West major accounts for sustained growth, and strengthen Stantec’s market position while maintaining alignment across Stantec business lines and services.

Requirements

Experience managing design and project/construction management mega-projects exceeding $500 million in construction value.
Proven experience delivering multiple multi-year major projects under a single major account.
Track record of establishing and maintaining client relationships in California and the broader US West market.
Experience with project controls, cost estimating methodologies, tender preparation, and contract administration on mega transportation projects is preferred.
Strong ability to develop business opportunities and promote trusted business relationships.
Ability to motivate teams and promote collaboration within and across offices and business lines.
Excellent organization, coordination, management, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
Results-oriented approach and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design/project delivery software.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field associated with commercial management.
Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Support the growth of key client relationships within California major accounts.
Lead and oversee commercial matters for major client accounts to support delivery excellence, client satisfaction, and repeat business.
Support client relationship strategies in collaboration with Account Managers, regional leaders, discipline leaders, and business line leadership.
Participate in major account strategy development for strategic growth accounts in California.
Support client satisfaction initiatives and client feedback processes, ensuring issues are elevated, addressed, and resolved.
Serve as the commercial lead for the California High-Speed Rail account and program.
Provide executive commercial oversight for programs and projects with construction values exceeding $500 million.
Lead contract strategy, commercial risk management, forecasting, profitability, and cash flow performance.
Oversee change management, claims avoidance, dispute resolution, and commercial compliance.
Partner with delivery teams to support successful project execution, client satisfaction, and financial performance.
Maintain executive-level relationships with clients, contractors, joint-venture partners, and stakeholders.
Drive account growth, strategic pursuits, and business development opportunities within the rail and transportation sectors.
Ensure compliance with Stantec project management and commercial management frameworks.
Engage hands-on when needed to address project, client, commercial, or delivery challenges.
Partner with Business Center leadership across Stantec business lines to enable effective cross-discipline design processes and best practices.
Champion commercial management excellence, innovation, claims avoidance, and consistent commercial delivery across assigned major accounts.
Collaborate with BCOLs across business lines on staffing projections, multi-year resource planning, and work-sharing for mega-projects.
Support Account Managers in annual budgeting, financial planning, and performance priority setting.
Apply strong financial and commercial judgment, including contract and risk negotiation support.
Serve as a trusted leader, thought partner, and source of counsel for major accounts and project teams.
Remain personally involved in key client relationships, strategic project issues, and major project leadership within the business center.
