Under general supervision of a Utilities Supervisor with some direction from the Crew Leader, the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks in the general installation, maintenance and repair of water pump stations, sewer lift station, reuse pump stations, transfer valves and provides support to the public and assigned City departments and divisions. This position is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of City water pumps, sewer pumps, reuse pumps, transfer valves, and elevated storage towers. The role involves installing, removing, replacing, maintaining, and repairing system components in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental/division guidelines. Additionally, the Maintenance Worker assists in cleaning, inspecting, and repairing all utilities facilities, inspects work for quality and safety compliance, and monitors equipment operators to prevent damage to utility lines. The position also handles emergency calls from the public and other agencies, completes daily work reports, organizes tools and equipment, and maintains equipment in safe operating order. Routine inspections of assigned areas are conducted to detect necessary repairs or hazardous conditions, and safety regulations are maintained. Driving a dump truck for assignments is also a responsibility. The role may also involve assisting with special events, working on-call, evenings, or weekends, and traveling for meetings and training.
