About The Position

The Two Rivers YMCA is seeking an experienced part-time Maintenance Worker to work day shifts, approximately 20-25 hours per week. The role involves maintaining the buildings and grounds across multiple YMCA facilities, including performing repairs, ensuring water quality, and managing maintenance schedules. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, proficient with various tools and equipment, and capable of troubleshooting and resolving maintenance issues.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Five years of maintenance experience.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, various types of mowers, snow blowers, and other equipment.
  • Mechanically inclined to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
  • Competence on a computer.
  • Required training in basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and pool chemistry.
  • Experience with pool filter equipment and various tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy/procedure manuals, and operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with member/non-members, employees, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in abstract and standardized situations.
  • CPR/AED for infant, child and adult certification.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens certification.
  • Hazard Communication certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License and valid Car Insurance (if driving for the YMCA).
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Knowledge of swimming pools, boilers, pumps, and motors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining the Buildings & Grounds across multiple YMCA facilities.
  • Perform tasks such as mowing, weed eating, snow removal, salting, repairs to building and equipment, and painting.
  • Monitor and assist in maintaining the water quality of aquatic fixtures.
  • Maintain a high quality of repair and appearance of the entire Grounds.
  • Monitor the energy management program as directed.
  • Maintain the comprehensive maintenance schedule as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training events as directed.
  • Maintain a professional image of the YMCA in the YMCA and in the community.
  • Relate to contractors providing services at the YMCA.
  • Make needed purchases and order supplies when directed by supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and members.
  • Set up and take down rooms for activities as directed.

Benefits

  • Pay starts at $15.00 an hour, depending on experience.
