About The Position

QSAC is a nonprofit organization based in New York City and Long Island that supports children and adults with autism, along with their families. The organization aims to help individuals achieve greater independence, realize their potential, and contribute meaningfully to their communities through person-centered services. QSAC offers direct services designed to provide a supportive and individualized setting for individuals with autism to enhance their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills. This role is a Full-Time Maintenance Worker - Janitorial opportunity focused on maintaining the safety and appearance of a QSAC facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • References required
  • 1-2 years of general maintenance and facility cleaning skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others
  • Attendance and punctuality is essential
  • Collaboration and flexibility is expected
  • Commitment to company values and adherence to policies

Nice To Haves

  • Driver license highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning bathrooms/kitchens, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors.
  • Hygienic cleaning and garbage collection and removal.
  • Maintaining cleanliness throughout facilities by completing assigned checklists (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Adhering to building/maintenance/codes to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
  • Prioritizing work to complete time-sensitive issues first.
  • Maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and using them responsibly.
  • Demonstrating safety and care of equipment and supplies.
  • Completing projects such as moving furniture, deliveries, painting, and plastering.
  • Working independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities.
  • Reporting for QSAC events for preparation and breakdown as needed.
  • Potentially working weekends and evenings.
  • Commitment to company values, adherence to policies, and maintaining individual/family confidentiality.
  • Ensuring attendance and punctuality.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management.
  • Utilizing troubleshooting skills to fix problems and communicating delays or emergency reassignments to supervisors.
  • Responding promptly to program needs throughout the facility.
  • Identifying facility problems and informing supervisors promptly.
  • Reporting to work for snow removal as needed.
  • Maintaining family and individual confidentiality.
