About The Position

Reporting to one of the Facility Area Supervisors, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the daily monitoring of Campus Services' equipment and buildings, and performs repairs and maintenance (within code regulations) in a variety of building operation disciplines and trades: Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliances, Food Service/Day-Care Equipment, Carpentry, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Maintenance Worker-Lead Hand, in scheduling and coordinating the day-to-day activities of casual summer maintenance staff in the delivery of the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Assigns the labour, equipment and tools required by the implementation of the program, and monitors the progress of the activities, providing weekly reports to the FAS.
  • Provides training and technical guidance to the hourly casual summer maintenance staff.
  • Keeps the daily and monthly inventory of parts, tools and equipment, etc.
  • Maintains parts lists, and, when necessary, orders and receives parts from the suppliers.
  • Informs the FAS if and when outside assistance is required in dealing with specific situations (trades, fire and safety, University and outside contractors).
  • Provides input for the annual budgeting, as well as, for short- and long-term planning.
