About The Position
Under supervision, performs a variety of semiskilled road maintenance and minor construction work on County roads; and performs related work as required. This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Community Services Department. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
Requirements
- One year of full-time experience performing basic road maintenance or construction work; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
- A valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a tank endorsement must be obtained within six months of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with tools and equipment used in a construction environment, preferably in road maintenance.
- Comfortable working in outdoor elements year-round.
- Experience using safe work practices in a construction environment.
- Demonstrate commitment to public service and value exceptional customer service.
- Utilize effective communication and interpersonal skills.
