About The Position

The City of San Gabriel’s Public Works Department is recruiting for a Maintenance Worker II. This recruitment will be filling a current opening in the Field Operations Division - Streets. This assignment specializes in performing concrete/asphalt repairs to City streets, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Other job knowledge needed include methods and standards for street stenciling and striping as well as methods and standards for street signage (way signage).

Requirements

At least one (1) year of experience working in maintenance and/or a related field such as a construction trade.
Effectively receives supervision and follows directions thoroughly.
Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
One (1) year or more of full-time experience in maintenance and/or a construction trade.
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License and ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record while employed with the City.

Nice To Haves

Possession or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of appointment a valid Class B California Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Performs general maintenance and repairs to City facilities, landscape, electrical systems, irrigation systems, plumbing, street trees, sewers, storm drains, streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, alleys, street signs, and traffic signals.
Performs simple to moderately complex, manual-skilled maintenance work in support of an assigned crew.
Performs concrete/asphalt repairs to City streets, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
Applies methods and standards for street stenciling and striping.
Applies methods and standards for street signage (way signage).
