About The Position

The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for identifying and addressing deficiencies in equipment and buildings, performing general repairs including minor plumbing and electrical work, and assisting other tradesmen. This role may involve operating equipment, assisting with snow removal, and performing other assigned duties. Overtime may be required. Advancement to Maintenance Worker II requires satisfactory performance evaluations, three years of experience, and completion of all required University trainings.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and follow directions.
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental mechanical, electrical, plumbing and heating/cooling.
  • 0 - 3 years of experience in specific trade (i.e., plumbing, electrical, etc.) or equivalent education.
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the University Safety Policy which apply to the work environment.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Good hygiene and cleanliness is required at all times
  • Must adhere to the company uniform policy.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and make office aware of maintenance issues
  • Follow rules and regulations as described in the company Handbook

Responsibilities

  • Identifies deficiencies and deviations from maintenance schedules and standards and performs inspection and inspection test of equipment and buildings.
  • Performs general repairs/maintenance as well as minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Assists other mechanical maintenance tradesmen as directed.
  • May operate light or heavy equipment, and maintain equipment and tools.
  • Assists with snow removal as needed.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
