About The Position

Build your career with the County of Sonoma as a Maintenance Worker at our Annapolis Road Yard. Starting salary up to $34.68/hour ($72,381/year) and a competitive total compensation package! This position's reporting location is in person, on-site at the County of Sonoma Maintenance Yard on Annapolis Road in Annapolis, CA, Monday-Friday. Sonoma Public Infrastructure (SPI) leads the way to a safe and sustainable community by planning, building, managing, and maintaining Sonoma County's investment in quality services and infrastructure. SPI is responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the County-maintained public road system and airport facilities. Every year, they manage numerous capital paving, construction, and road safety improvement projects. Their Maintenance Workers perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled road maintenance and facility management tasks.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level, including special endorsements as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
  • The position advertised on this announcement does require possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Some experience in road construction or maintenance work that includes the use of light mechanical machines, hand tools, and in performing heavy physical labor.

Responsibilities

  • Performing pavement maintenance (pothole patching, culvert cleaning, sign installation, vegetation removal, paint striping)
  • Operating various vehicles and small power tools used in road maintenance activities
  • Performing preventive maintenance on various equipment, such as trucks, other vehicles, and equipment, needed for road maintenance activities
