About The Position

Performs a variety of manual tasks in the maintenance of the County streets and roadways; may be assigned to any division in the Public Works Department.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the use of machinery and equipment such as light automotive equipment and light to heavy trucks.
  • Knowledge of the operation of hand and power tools; i.e., drills, hammers, hand saws, chain saws, power saws; wrenches, shovels, rakes, etc.
  • Commercial Driver's License with Manual Transmission Certification (Prior to employment)
  • Flagging Certificate (Prior to employment)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • DMV Records Verification
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Fit-for-Duty physical exam complete with hearing test
