This position works under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman at the Wastewater Treatment Plant within the Public Works Division. The role involves performing complex tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electromechanical machinery and equipment found in large volume wastewater treatment plants. The mechanic will dismantle or partially dismantle various equipment such as electric motors, turbines, engines, transmissions, hydraulic valves, meters, and gages to access and replace faulty parts. The role requires the use of various hand and power tools and involves periodic inspection, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts to prevent breakdowns. The individual must be able to interpret schematics and operation manuals and will also operate facilities' support equipment, including dump trucks, for transport to job sites across the city. The position operates with significant autonomy for unreviewed actions or decisions.
