About The Position

This position is responsible for people and processes required to maintain operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. It involves performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties to ensure efficient and compliant operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training in wastewater treatment plant operation/equipment
  • 2+ years wastewater treatment plant operating experience, or any combination of education and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong Mathematical/Analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Observes equipment operation for proper functioning and to record readings, including devices for atmospheric gases.
  • Operates USAB anaerobic reactor which includes: transferring sludge, drains water traps, checks temperature, adjusts valves, and pump speeds.
  • Monitors and makes treatment adjustments to control Ph, H2S, and overall reactor health.
  • Monitor entire treatment process including removal of foreign material, operating de-gritting equipment and operating mechanical sludge handling equipment.
  • Operates effluent odor control equipment.
  • Collects sewage and sludge samples for analysis.
  • Performs lab analysis/testing for reporting of COD, TSS, VFA, AN, Sulfide, Yeast, Phosphorus and Alkalinity.
  • Operates and cleans automatic samplers.
  • Performs minor/routine equipment repairs and assists maintenance staff as needed.
  • Assist with general treatment plant facilities maintenance.
  • Cleans work areas, treatment plant and lift stations.
  • Supervises non-exempt employees, including scheduling, training and coaching.
  • Record all data required for daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting, internally and externally.
  • Keeps detailed records of chemical usage to place orders with vendors. Including knowledge of handling and storage of chemicals such as high strength peroxide, caustic, ferric chloride, urea, and muriatic acid.
