About The Position

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Treatment Plant Operator II to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Utilities- Wastewater division. In this role, the operator performs daily plant checks of mechanical, chemical, and electrical equipment, conducts process control sample testing, adjusts equipment to maintain solids removal, performs plant maintenance and repairs, reads reports and logbooks, troubleshoots facility problems, and assists with TCEQ plant inspections.

Requirements

  • High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college chemistry, biology, or closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of wastewater operations or closely related experience.
  • Wastewater Treatment Operator Class C License.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily plant checks of the wastewater plants mechanical, chemical and electrical equipment operations.
  • Runs daily process control sample testing using lab equipment onsite according to plant permit requirements; checks lab results and makes corrections.
  • Turns on, monitors and makes adjustments to equipment during the course of the day to maintain removal of solids in accordance with process procedures.
  • Performs plant maintenance and makes repairs to any equipment that may need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Reads operator's process control reports, logbooks and lab sampling results.
  • Troubleshoots and fixes problems at the wastewater facilities.
  • Involvement with plant inspections by TCEQ.
