About The Position

Under indirect supervision on an assigned shift, participates in the operation and quality control of a Wastewater Treatment Plant. Responsible for the quality of effluent as set by Federal, State, and City regulations. Shift work and weekends.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Must be able to attain a TCEQ Class D Wastewater Treatment Certification within the first year of employment.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

  • Makes periodic rounds of the plant to assure that the plant process is operating properly.
  • Monitors and records the flow through the plant.
  • Collects samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Performs standard tests for operations control.
  • Maintains records for operations control of the plant (every 2 hours).
  • Checks all pumps, motors, engines, and blowers and associated equipment.
  • Fills out maintenance request forms on equipment not operating properly.
  • Reports the status of the plant to the supervisor.
  • Maintains flow distribution to; industrial, equalization, digestion, sludge, etc.
  • Removes debris from clarifier as needed.
  • Communicates to the oncoming operator the plant status and any hazards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
