About The Position

Protective Coatings Inc. is seeking a Level 3 Facilities Technician for their Swing Shift. This role is responsible for the maintenance and operation of various industrial systems including shot peening machinery, paint component mixing systems, HVAC systems, air compressors and dryers, and rectifier systems. The technician will also perform welding applications, fabricate special tooling, and maintain monitoring and control equipment. This position requires the ability to mentor and train lower-level technicians, adapt to a fast-paced production environment, and demonstrate strong business ethics and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with all operating systems including shot peening machinery and equipment maintenance, paint component mixing systems, HVAC systems, air compressors and dryers, and rectifier systems.
  • Ability to perform welding applications such as MIG welding.
  • Ability to provide for special tooling concepts and fabrications.
  • Ability to perform maintenance and installation of monitoring and control equipment such as temperature controls, metering systems, electrical heating and timer systems for production tanks.
  • Basic MIG welding & metal fabrication skill sets.
  • Ability to use several different types of power tools (Drills, Saws, Grinders, Drill press, Sanders, Plasma cutter, all hand tools).
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Detail-oriented and quick learner.
  • Organizational skill set.
  • Good communicator with ability to represent the Company in a positive manner.
  • Excellent vision, including normal color vision.
  • Basic computer skills, phone apps and email.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter and ability to work alone or as a member of a team, with good cooperative skills.
  • Ability to direct, train, and mentor lower-level employees.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematic skill sets – Tape measurements, adding and subtracting.
  • Understanding of Industrial facility layouts including electrical panels, overhead sprinkler water systems, pneumatics, roll up doors, lighting, and ensuring a secure facility during plant closure and open start up procedures.
  • Typically, 3-5 years of Industrial Maintenance Experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arranged work schedule, potentially including on-call duties for plant production emergencies on a rotating schedule.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Wear and maintain proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all required safety procedures.
  • Safely operate facilities equipment such as power tools, hoists, cranes, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Perform complete maintenance of entire facilities systems including powder coating system, In-line paint mixing system, vapor degreaser, solvent distiller system, HVAC systems, plating/anodize rectifier systems, processing tank electric heater and timer systems, shot peen machines, and NDT on-demand hot water system.
  • Operate production facilities equipment including ovens, dryer and oven controls, immersion tanks and controls, air compressors, and paint booths and make-up air units.
  • Order and inventory materials, tools, accessories, and parts to support production facility departments, machinery, and equipment.
  • Fabricate racks and special tooling.
  • Perform Stick, MIG, and TIG welding.
  • Operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Perform equipment maintenance on items such as air compressors.
  • Perform plumbing and maintenance to facilities water piping systems.
  • Perform electrical work related to facilities and machinery.
  • Perform repairs and service maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Study production schedules and estimate repair and work completion to schedule around production.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
  • Mentor and train lower-level technicians.
  • Facilitate and give direction for the Facilities department based on production needs.
