About The Position

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in keeping the Morganton site operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure uninterrupted production and safe operations. Your work directly impacts plant safety, environmental compliance, equipment reliability, and production uptime. You are a hands-on problem solver who identifies issues early, supports continuous improvement, and partners closely with operations and site leadership to keep the plant running at a high level every day.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience (mechanical, electrical, and/or instrumentation)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting industrial equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and instrumentation schematics
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar maintenance management systems
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs, work at heights, enter confined spaces, and wear required PPE
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong ownership and accountability
  • Willingness and ability to rotate on-call coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays, including responding to emergency call-ins as required

Nice To Haves

  • Chemical or process manufacturing experience
  • Pipefitting, conduit installation, and millwright experience
  • Instrumentation and control systems troubleshooting experience
  • Forklift certification or experience
  • Vocational or post-secondary technical education
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend improvements

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance work in full compliance with site safety procedures, permits, and safe work practices
  • Actively participate in incident investigations, safety audits, inspections, and PSM/PHA activities
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions quickly to prevent incidents
  • Support emergency response activities and preparedness drills
  • Maintain strong housekeeping standards—understanding that a clean plant is a safe plant
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain process equipment, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Execute preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective work to improve equipment availability and reliability
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and instrumentation issues and implement effective repairs
  • Identify recurring problems and recommend permanent solutions to reduce downtime
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support unplanned maintenance needs and equipment outages
  • Partner with operations to resolve equipment-related production or quality issues
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and configured to consistently produce on-spec product
  • Participate in investigations of quality incidents and support corrective actions
  • Apply strong process knowledge to anticipate risks and prevent future failures
  • Plan, coordinate, and complete work orders and PM inspections in SAP
  • Build and maintain equipment history, technical files, and as-built documentation
  • Coordinate with vendors to identify parts, support repairs, and ensure timely material availability
  • Assist with maintenance planning, shutdowns, and outage activities
  • Share technical knowledge and support training of new maintenance employees
  • Help develop, improve, and update maintenance procedures and standard work
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and promote accountability across the site
  • Step up during unplanned outages to coordinate work and maintain productivity
