About The Position

The General Maintenance Technician Lead supports the day-to-day upkeep, repair, and appearance of a workforce accommodations facility. The role focuses on general maintenance rather than licensed trade work, helping keep accommodations, common areas, and support buildings safe, functional, and presentable while coordinating a team to complete the work scope. Experience maintaining commercial kitchen equipment is considered a strong asset.

Reporting to the General Manager, the lead works hands-on across the site to address maintenance needs promptly and professionally. The position also leads, coaches, trains, and supports frontline employees across multiple operational functions.

Requirements

• Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or building upkeep is preferred.
• Practical experience with repairs, painting, and grounds maintenance.
• Previous experience leading a team in a lead-hand or supervisor capacity.
• Comfort using hand tools and basic power tools.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily maintenance tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35–50 pounds.
• Willingness to follow all safety procedures and site policies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience maintaining or troubleshooting commercial kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs, including painting and surface touch-ups, drywall patching and minor carpentry, replacing light fixtures, bulbs, and filters, and adjusting doors, locks, hinges, and hardware.
• Support grounds maintenance, including cleanup, landscaping, vegetation control, and lease maintenance.
• Lead a small team of maintenance technicians and set daily priorities based on maintenance requirements.
• Lead, coach, train, and support frontline employees across multiple operational functions.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with client, legislative, and company standards.
• Continuously improve and align systems and processes to be effective, efficient, and responsive.
• Assist with inspection and upkeep of buildings and common areas.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on equipment and appliances.
• Support maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment, such as ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers, under direction.
• Complete basic preventative maintenance tasks and checklists.
• Report larger repair needs or safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Use hand and power tools safely and appropriately.
• Assist other trades or contractors as required.
