About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for overhauling, repairing, and testing high-speed production equipment, including ovens, packaging machines, mixers, cartoners, baggers, stuffers, and smoke houses throughout the facility. This role requires adherence to safety, GMP's, and USDA guidelines, and involves completing required paperwork daily. The technician will also be responsible for understanding and using shop prints, specifications, and manufacturer manuals for servicing and installation. They will determine workforce and material requirements, prepare surfaces, maintain cleanliness, use trade tools and test equipment, maintain spare parts inventory, coordinate with management for system lockouts, and train new hires/transfers on maintenance and safety practices. The position also involves observing and assisting outside contractors for compliance with company standards.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Prior maintenance experience in a production environment
  • Electrical ability (110 single phase and 480 & 230 v 3 phase)
  • Hydraulic ability (motors, pumps, and valves)
  • Pneumatic ability (air valves and controls)
  • Welding ability
  • Basic understanding of drive trains (Belts, pulleys, sprockets, and chain drives)
  • Basic understanding of PLC operation
  • Basic understanding of motor control
  • Basic understanding of fabrication (welding, grinding, and assembly)

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul, repair, and test high speed production equipment including ovens, packaging machines, mixers, cartoners, baggers, stuffers, and smoke houses.
  • Understand and use shop prints, specifications, and manufacturer manuals for servicing and installation of equipment and distribution systems.
  • Determine workforce and material requirements, means and methods to be used in accomplishing work assignments and recommend changes.
  • Prepare, paint surfaces and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
  • Use tools and test equipment of the trade.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and orders parts.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance management when locking and tagging systems.
  • Observe safety requirements.
  • Observe and assist outside contractors for compliance with ConAgra standards.
  • Train new hires/transfers regarding proper maintenance and safety practices.
  • Follow all GMP's and USDA guidelines.
  • Complete required paperwork daily per Quality guidelines.
