About The Position

Carmel Oaks Retirement Community, a Transforming Age community in Lakewood, Colorado, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance and repairs on the facility and its equipment. The work includes plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical tasks, following established procedures. The position pays $30 per hour and generally works Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call days.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Be able to read, write, and speak English.
Have a minimum of one year of building maintenance work experience.
Complete a background check; additional screening may include a drug screen, physical, TB test, and fingerprinting, according to state and local guidelines.
Be able to work in different physical positions and perform physically demanding maintenance tasks inside and outside the building.
Have good manual dexterity and the ability to work with tools and equipment.
Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Formal training at a vocational school or completion of a trade apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work, in accordance with established procedures.
Prepare and organize materials and equipment before starting a task.
Immediately report equipment or items needing repair to a supervisor.
Respond to occasional building emergencies as needed by the supervisor.
Report all incidents and accidents to a supervisor.
Perform assigned daily rounds and checks of various systems, including related record keeping.
Perform other duties as assigned.
