About The Position

The General Maintenance position at the Sheraton Metairie supports the safe, functional, and attractive operation of the property. The technician performs a range of maintenance tasks, identifies and resolves issues promptly, and maintains equipment, fixtures, and building systems to minimize disruption to guests and staff. The role helps keep the facility in excellent condition, compliant with safety standards, and prepared for the needs of a hospitality environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in general maintenance or a related field; experience in accommodation or food service is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

• Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Familiarity with hospitality-related safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Ability to perform minor carpentry and painting tasks.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to provide timely repairs.
• Maintain and repair building structures, including walls, doors, windows, and flooring.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or large-scale maintenance projects.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, materials used, and equipment status.
• Follow safety regulations and company policies during maintenance activities.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining equipment and facilities for special events or operational changes.
