About The Position

The Maintenance Technician Trainee – Injection Molding is an entry-level role designed to develop the skills needed to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Working under the guidance of experienced maintenance personnel, this position supports equipment reliability, production performance, and safe work practices while gaining hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; trade school certification preferred.
  • Prior maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or technical training experience preferred, but not required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Interest in learning PLCs, industrial controls, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and learn technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to ask questions.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and manipulate heavy objects and work in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required to read instruments, use diagnostic tools, and perform detailed repairs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with injection molding equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance on injection molding machines, robots, and auxiliary equipment such as dryers, chillers, grinders, and conveyors.
  • Learn to diagnose and support repairs for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on production equipment under supervision.
  • Assist in mold setup, changeover, and alignment as directed.
  • Support checks of temperature controllers, sensors, and other process control components.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for repairs, preventative maintenance activities, and equipment observations.
  • Work with production and maintenance staff to help minimize machine downtime and improve process efficiency.
  • Follow all safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and applicable GMP requirements.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Assist with monitoring spare parts inventory and notify management when replenishment is needed.
