About The Position

This traveling role involves regular travel throughout Wisconsin to support and learn about generation plants, including coal, gas, combustion turbine, solar, wind, and battery generation facilities. The position performs varied mechanical, basic electrical, and basic control and instrument maintenance activities, along with other duties needed to maintain the assigned generation facility. It may be filled at the Apprentice or Journey level, depending on qualifications.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Journey-level experience in the mechanical trade is required for the Journey level.
Valid driver’s license.
Must live within 60 minutes of Columbia, Edgewater, Riverside, or Madison under normal driving conditions, in accordance with the Residency Policy.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
Well-developed machining skills.
Knowledge of welding theory and skill in welding.
Knowledge of company safety rules.
High degree of mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
Strong leadership ability.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, clean, inspect, and construct mechanical, basic electrical, and basic instrumentation and control equipment and systems at generation facilities.
Operate or obtain information from mechanical and electrical devices used for equipment diagnostics and work activities; gather, interpret, and log data.
Use machine tools and various hand-powered tools as job needs dictate.
Operate mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
Perform welding activities.
Participate in continuous improvement activities that support safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency.
Perform work according to established procedures and safety practices.
Perform housekeeping functions in generating plants and shop areas.
Perform other duties that are similar, related, or incidental to the position.
