About The Position

The Maintenance Technician IV is a senior role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving complex systems and equipment in a manufacturing facility. With expert-level knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, this technician leads repairs, mentors junior staff, and handles preventive maintenance. The role also involves advanced system analysis, upgrades, and projects to enhance equipment reliability and performance, requiring strong leadership, independence, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Expert-level troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly and effectively resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and automation issues.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with the capability to lead a team, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in PLC and HMI programming, and the ability to troubleshoot and modify control systems to resolve issues.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting and maintenance, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other advanced testing equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to write detailed maintenance logs and reports.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with the ability to evaluate equipment performance data and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex equipment failures on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and analytical methods to troubleshoot and repair critical production equipment, including PLCs, SCADA systems, robotics, CNC machinery, and HVAC systems.
  • Lead major repairs of high-priority equipment, ensuring minimal production downtime and ensuring long-term system reliability.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all production equipment and facility systems to maximize uptime and extend equipment life.
  • Implement predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis, to identify potential issues before they lead to failure.
  • Ensure that PM programs meet or exceed manufacturer recommendations and compliance with internal operational standards.
  • Document and track maintenance activities, ensuring all PM, corrective actions, and repairs are logged and aligned with compliance and safety requirements.
  • Lead the installation, setup, and testing of new equipment, ensuring proper integration into existing systems.
  • Manage the commissioning of new or upgraded machinery, ensuring proper configuration and calibration, and verifying that all functions meet production and quality specifications.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements or modifications to existing equipment and systems to enhance productivity, efficiency, and safety.
  • Oversee the installation of automation systems, ensuring proper integration with existing systems and ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance practices.
  • Implement process improvements related to equipment maintenance, including developing and enhancing maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and operational workflows.
  • Participate in capital projects, including the evaluation, selection, and installation of new machinery, systems, and tools to improve plant performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and operations, to resolve equipment issues and support project timelines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, mentoring junior technicians and providing guidance on troubleshooting, maintenance best practices, and safety standards.
  • Provide hands-on training and coaching to less experienced technicians, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development across the maintenance team.
  • Lead technical training sessions, helping to build team capabilities and enhance overall department performance.
  • Assist in the development of training materials, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations, minimizing risk to personnel and facility operations.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance work, including preventive maintenance logs, repairs, installations, and inspections, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols during maintenance activities, including lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Assist with audits (internal, external, or regulatory), providing documentation and supporting the review of maintenance procedures and practices.
  • Implement lean principles and best practices in the maintenance department, reducing waste, improving efficiency, and increasing equipment reliability.
  • Participate in reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives and support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) programs to drive down equipment failures and reduce costs.
  • Contribute to the development of performance metrics for the maintenance team, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment uptime, downtime, and cost efficiency.
