About The Position

The Maintenance Technician III performs essential work involving equipment installation, repair, and modification related to the generation, distribution, and use of electric energy in a manufacturing facility. The role installs, modifies, and maintains plant buildings, machinery, and equipment—including mobile or road equipment and production machinery—in good mechanical condition. This position is within Cornerstone Building Brands’ Fortify Building Solutions business, serving the pre-engineered metal buildings, metal roof and wall systems, and steel building components industry. The position is based at 14031 W Hardy Rd., Houston, TX 77060. The first shift is generally 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., though hours may vary with operations. Shifts may be 8, 10, or 12 hours depending on daily work orders and season, and overtime may be available. Base pay is $32.00–$36.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
At least five years of related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of standing, walking, lifting 30 pounds or more, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, and near acuity.
Ability to work frequently near moving mechanical parts.

Responsibilities

Follow safety rules and precautions when working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus.
Perform assigned duties in the machine shop, including tool and die work, as directed.
Work on highly technical or complex projects and make decisions based on conclusions and findings.
Install and repair electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems, using blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions, and other specifications.
Use arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame-cutting welding equipment for layout and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures.
Use electricians’ hand tools and measuring and testing equipment.
Diagnose and correct electrical system or equipment problems, applying standard computations related to wiring and equipment load requirements.
Perform visual and mechanical inspections to keep machinery in good condition and support the production of finished products to order specifications.
Follow the company preventive maintenance program, inspect equipment, and take preventive action when needed.
Perform minor and major building repairs.
Notify management when major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, or ventilating equipment are needed.
Provide on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting with maintenance work.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the work area.
Perform additional projects or duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
