About The Position

Leads Runyon and seasonal staff in the upkeep and enhancement of parks, athletic fields, and recreational facilities. Oversees irrigation systems, sports field preparation, turf maintenance, landscaping, fence construction and repair, noxious weed control, and general park maintenance while ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of County recreational facilities. This posting will close at midnight on July 19th OR once we receive 30 applicants, whichever occurs first. This posting may be used to fill multiple openings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency required
  • Minimum of 5 years or more experience in turfgrass, landscape, and grounds maintenance, including snow removal and operating grounds maintenance equipment
  • Valid Driver's License upon date of hire
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License 60 days of hire
  • Colorado Commercial Driver License (CDL) 1 year of hire preferred
  • Must successfully pass a conditional post-offer physical examination.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repair and maintenance tasks at Runyon Sports Complex and outlying fields, including Galarraga Field. Duties include, but are not limited to: turf maintenance, fence construction and maintenance, fertilizer application, noxious weed control, seeding, top dressing, landscaping, snow and ice mitigation, and erosion control.
  • Independently travels to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations at Runyon Sports Complex and outlying fields such as Galarraga Field.
  • Provides lead work duties and oversees the work of Runyon and seasonal staff.
  • Prepares written and computerized reports documenting maintenance activities.
  • Develops maintenance schedules to ensure efficient task execution at Runyon Sports Complex and outlying fields, including Galarraga Field.
  • Maintains sports fields and prepares them for various sporting activities.
  • Assists with irrigation and sprinkler systems, including installation and maintenance.
  • Performs painting and scoreboard repairs, inspects structures, and maintains overall lawn and field conditions.
  • Inspects structures, sites, and equipment to ensure safety and proper operating conditions.
  • Reports and schedules repairs for equipment and structures at Runyon Sports Complex and outlying fields, including Galarraga Field.
  • Cleans and maintains bleachers, dugouts, restrooms, and surrounding areas at Runyon Sports Complex and outlying fields, including Galarraga Field.
  • Assembles tables, benches, and other park equipment at Runyon Sports Complex and outlying fields, including Galarraga Field.
  • Assumes responsibilities in the absence of the Runyon Sports Complex Superintendent as needed.
  • Engages with community park users, sports organizations, visitors, and coaches to provide information and resolve issues.
  • Suggests procedural improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase safety.
  • Maintains active, clear, and regular communication with the supervisor and colleagues on all work-related matters.
  • Supports the training of new Runyon or seasonal staff, shares insights and best practices, and participates in meetings, classes, and training sessions as required or requested by the supervisor.
  • Researches and recommends new maintenance equipment or technologies that could enhance efficiency.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written skills to communicate effectively.
  • Provides assistance during community events or tournaments held within Runyon Sports Complex and outlying fields such as Galarraga Field, offering support as needed.
  • Coordinates with vendors to procure materials, equipment, or services, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Provides support during emergencies, such as storm damage or natural disasters, as part of a broader response team.
  • Contributes to maintaining an inventory of tools, equipment, and materials, supporting accurate recordkeeping.
  • Contributes to special projects initiated by Runyon Sports Complex or by other relevant departments.
