About The Position

The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of distribution center equipment through proactive preventive maintenance, quick response to breakdowns, and adherence to safety regulations. This role involves monitoring and repairing facility equipment, supporting production, and performing various mechanical and electrical repairs. The technician will also be involved in system design, installation, and maintenance, including welding, fabrication, and groundskeeping. Training and record-keeping are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain a PIV (powered industrial vehicle) license within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficient in the operation and utilization of various test and metering equipment.
  • Ability to develop and utilize PLC logic for trouble shooting / modifications.
  • Ability to develop and / or perform welding and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of ARC, MIG and gas welding.
  • Able to perform fabrication from drawings.
  • Familiar with and / or experienced with Building Management Systems.
  • Can work independently or as part of a team.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and physically fit.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of previous facilities maintenance or maintenance technician experience.
  • Previous success in completing mechanical / electrical training programs.
  • Moderate to advanced mechanical and electrical knowledge base.
  • Training qualifications in maintenance disciplines.
  • In-depth knowledge and previous experience working with high-speed conveyance systems and all components.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of distribution center equipment through proactive preventive maintenance and quick reaction to breakdowns.
  • Ensures all OSHA, NFPA, and other regulatory safety requirements are met or exceeded, including documenting inspections.
  • Performs fire system inspections.
  • Monitors interior and exterior of facility and conducts equipment repairs as needed.
  • Partners to fix or update systems when necessary.
  • Ensures effective production support, both proactively and reactively.
  • Performs mechanical and electrical repairs on equipment associated with warehouse distribution systems.
  • Performs equipment diagnostics/repairs of motor control systems, forklifts, scanners, and building systems.
  • Designs, oversees, and assists in the installation of electrical circuits per applicable codes.
  • Develops and utilizes PLC logic for troubleshooting/modifications.
  • Develops and/or performs welding and fabrication (ARC, MIG, and gas welding).
  • Performs PMs, repairs, and overhauls on all associated equipment.
  • Identifies damaged or defective equipment and repairs in a timely manner.
  • Detects safety hazards and plans/organizes safe solutions.
  • Provides departmental training based on areas of expertise.
  • Leads projects and effectively directs the efforts of others.
  • Maintains expected level of cleanliness in all assigned work areas.
  • Maintains maintenance records as required.
  • Coordinates third-party specialist contractors.
  • Performs routine testing of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Performs basic grounds maintenance and snow shoveling/salting.
  • Performs all assigned tasks and other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in periodic training/retraining/certification as appropriate.
