About The Position

Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance work across retail stores and facility locations. This position supports day-to-day building operations by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, doors, fixtures, equipment, and general facility systems. Maintenance Technician II is expected to work with minimal supervision, respond to work orders in a timely manner, communicate clearly with store leadership and supervisors, and help ensure each location remains safe, functional, clean, and ready for business operations.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, retail maintenance, or related trade.
  • Certification in at least one skilled trade
  • Working knowledge of general plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and repair practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common facility issues with limited supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters, and basic diagnostic equipment safely.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between retail locations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple work orders throughout the day.
  • Basic computer or mobile device skills for updating tickets, uploading photos, and communicating status.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years working experience or schooling in related field.
  • Able to stand and walk up to 7 hours per day.
  • Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and customer service.
  • Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Ability to prioritize urgent repairs.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to help others.
  • Good judgment when deciding when to repair, replace, or escalate an issue.
  • Ability to stay organized while covering multiple locations.
  • Valid CA Driver’s License: clean DMV printout and be insurable to drive company vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience working in retail, commercial, nonprofit, or multi-site facilities.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors.
  • Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building repairs including drywall, painting, flooring, ceiling tile replacement, door hardware, locks, shelving, fixtures, and furniture repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing issues such as leaks, clogged drains, faucets, toilets, flush valves, supply lines, and drain assemblies.
  • Perform basic electrical repairs including lighting, switches, outlets, ballasts/drivers, breakers, sensors, and other low-risk electrical components within skill level.
  • Repair and maintain retail equipment, donation equipment, carts, compactors, balers, roll-up doors, and other store-related systems as assigned.
  • Respond to urgent facility issues that may impact on safety, customer experience, or store operations.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and inspect lighting, restrooms, plumbing, doors, emergency lighting, parking lots, and general facility areas.
  • Identify developing repair and safety concerns early; document findings with clear notes and pictures and initiate or report corrective action to help prevent emergency repairs.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately and on time; document work performed, parts used, current status, next steps, and required before-and-after pictures.
  • Communicate when work is pending parts, vendor support, approval, or follow-up, and maintain organized records of completed work, materials, and equipment condition.
  • Communicate professionally with store managers, team members, vendors, and leadership, providing timely updates on repair schedules, safety concerns, and completion status.
  • Represent the Facilities Department professionally and respectfully; ask questions when direction is unclear and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, ladder safety, PPE requirements, and vehicle safety rules.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and take action to correct or report them.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas while performing repairs.
  • Use tools and equipment properly and safely.
  • Assist with vendor access, job walks, project support, and repair coordination as needed.
  • Support special projects, moves, setups, demos, remodels, and event support.
  • Assist with parts pickup, material ordering, and inventory control when assigned.
  • Ability to take the lead on more complex, by a course of action, including scope, plan, and execution.
  • Required to train and mentor technicians.
