About The Position

The Maintenance Technician EBM role is responsible for participating in changeovers, machine preventative maintenance (PM), processing, and repairs. This position requires spending approximately 95% of the time on the production floor with the machines, understanding and communicating their current status. The technician will work closely with the supervisor to ensure machines are maintained in a safe, efficient, and quality operational state. Key responsibilities include basic electrical troubleshooting, reading electrical prints, replacing components like heater bands and heat relays, servicing hydraulics, and troubleshooting pneumatic systems. The role also involves maintaining GMP and SQF compliance, adhering to food safety regulations, responding to emergencies, and ensuring security diligence. Continuous vigilance in GMP and SQF practices, assisting in preventing nonconforming product shipment, identifying and recording problems, initiating actions to prevent non-conformities, and suggesting improvements for products, processes, and systems are also crucial aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with troubleshooting pneumatic systems
  • Working knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out requirements
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • High School or Equivalent Education

Nice To Haves

  • Bekum, Autoblow, Graham Wheel and other EBM machines experience a plus!
  • Prior certification on a forklift
  • Experience with resin and blending systems strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participates in changeovers, machine PM, processing and repairs
  • Spends 95% of time on the floor with the machines
  • Understands and can relate the current status of all production machines on the floor
  • Works closely with supervisor to maintain machines in safe, efficient and quality process
  • Start of shift meets with previous shift mechanics to discuss any issues
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting of machinery and ability to read an electrical print
  • Experience replacing heater bands, heat relays and troubleshooting heat zones
  • Working knowledge of servicing hydraulics and replacing hydraulic pumps
  • Experience with troubleshooting pneumatic systems
  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for adhering to Food Safety Compliance.
  • Respond to any emergency or potential emergency.
  • Security diligence, including maintaining control of door accesses, preventing unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Berry employees and proper maintenance/security of Berry equipment and information.
  • Constant vigilance and participation in GMP and SQF practices.
  • Assist in the prevention of nonconforming product from being shipped to customers.
  • Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality systems.
  • Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes or systems and very the implementation of solutions.
