About The Position

Poly-Nova opened in Guelph in 1996 and has a 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant with about 150 employees. They produce rubber products for the automotive & power transmission industries, specializing in rubber molding, material development, engineering, injection molding, and over molding. In 2011, Poly-Nova was purchased by Starlim Sterner, a market leader in Silicone Liquid Injection Molding. This acquisition allows for the offering of both rubber and silicone products under one company, anticipating significant future growth. Poly-Nova is IATF16949 certified and emphasizes quality, customer collaboration, design & development, product support, and technological advancement. The company is seeking a licensed and experienced Maintenance Mechanic / Millwright to join their maintenance team. This role is crucial for ensuring the continuous operation of production and facility equipment across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Applications from 3rd or 4th year Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) apprentices eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment are also welcomed.

Requirements

  • Valid 433A Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) license or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year apprentice in the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance role.
  • Experience with injection molding equipment (thermoplastic/rubber) is an asset.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Familiarity with robotics, automation, bowl feeders, and vision inspection systems.
  • Proven ability to work safely and follow all health and safety policies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and learn new systems quickly.
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player.

Responsibilities

  • Support production and maintenance team by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production machinery based on priority.
  • Ensure continuous operation of all production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Perform both preventative and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Install, maintain, overhaul, and repair mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building and facility systems across two locations.
  • Work under pressure to identify root causes and resolve equipment failures quickly and effectively.
  • Complete assigned work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities or malfunctions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Operate lifting equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process and equipment improvements.
