About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician Apprentice at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance team in basic repair of a variety of equipment in Manufacturing, Warehousing/Shipping, and other facilities. This role also maintains appearance of Garmin aircraft in some locations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous machinery operation experience
  • Must demonstrate basic knowledge of machine automation systems
  • Must demonstrate basic knowledge of safe manufacturing /warehouse operation
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull 200 lbs., climb ladders, squat, kneel, crawl, stand an entire shift and walk long distances throughout the facility in performance of essential functions

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing a substantially similar role
  • Experience with automated assembly, testing, and conveying equipment
  • Technical school certification in electronics, industrial or maintenance technology or related facilities degree
  • Refrigerant license
  • Electrical Journeyman license

Responsibilities

  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with daily basic maintenance and preventative maintenance and/or work orders in electrical, HVAC/Ref and plumbing to support Operations
  • Assist with basic preventative maintenance, inspection and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment for defects and assist with repairs as necessary
  • Maintain maintenance records by completing daily logs, recordings and pertinent information necessary for documentation
  • Execute plans made by the supervisor or mentor while providing regular status updates
  • Utilize power & hand tools in accordance with safety rules and regulations
  • Successfully demonstrates knowledge of E-Scrap, recycling collection and disposal, conveyor system preventative maintenance, manufacturing production equipment preventative maintenance, and housekeeping
  • Assist outside contractors, when necessary, in the maintenance of the physical plant
  • Assist with controlling expenditures
  • Maintain appropriate spare parts inventory for equipment
  • Completely execute Lock Out/Tag Out of equipment
