About The Position

The ATP Apprentice Simulator Maintenance Technician is an entry-level, developmental technical position responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and operation of flight simulators, simulator training equipment, and training center IT infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, or on-call.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and written instructions.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate condition requiring escalations.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn technical systems, tools, procedures, and maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and corrective maintenance on simulator hardware, software, avionics interfaces, and related subsystems when the issue is within established procedures and the Apprentice's demonstrated competency.
  • Assist the Simulator Maintenance Technician with troubleshooting of complex, intermittent, recurring, or cross-system discrepancies and develop proficiency in advanced diagnostic techniques.
  • Perform qualified maintenance and repair activities within established procedures and assigned authority; verify completed work using approved checks or procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining, calibrating, and repairing avionics lab equipment, including navigation/communication simulators, instrument panels, avionics test benches, and integrated training aids, as assigned and within demonstrated competency.
  • Assist with basic support and troubleshooting of training center IT equipment, including servers, networking gear, workstations, VILT virtual training classrooms, learning management systems (LMS), audio/video systems for debriefs, and cybersecurity measures for simulation environments, under established procedures and appropriate technical direction.
  • Document assigned maintenance actions, discrepancies, troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and resolutions in accordance with established recordkeeping processes.
  • Report and track assigned maintenance discrepancies and provide timely updates regarding work status, findings, and unresolved issues.
  • Assist with FAA evaluations, recurrent qualifications, special emphasis inspections, and company-conducted performance checks; prepare devices and provide technical support as assigned and under appropriate technical direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
