About The Position

The Maintenance Technical Leader observes the work load for their work crew to ensure plant and departmental goals are achieved according to established priorities. This role provides assistance with technical and organizational expertise to ensure departmental priorities are achieved and serves as an on-shift technical resource to maintenance and production personnel for guidance and troubleshooting. The position expedites problem-solving to prevent process delays or re-establish product flow in an expeditious manner, assisting with technical issues, equipment performance issues, root cause analysis, training, and compliance issues. The Technical Leader enters emergent calls and downtime events into the tracking system with all technical details, including root cause identification, and organizes, tracks, and implements minor follow-up corrective maintenance items/process improvement projects. This role ensures established standards are maintained for cost, quality, labor, safety, and housekeeping. Additionally, the Maintenance Technical Leader coaches, trains, and provides technical guidance to team members, gains commitment to department and factory goals through effective coaching and communication, and encourages member development. They collect and record data for daily and weekly records and participate in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S) activities as needed, while following all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum 3 years of experience engineering or industrial maintenance role
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished I written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form
  • Working knowledge of maintenance/reliability concepts and theory.
  • Familiar with a wide range of engineering disciplines. Able to advise technicians in diagnosing equipment problems, replacing, testing, and adjusting components, and reading/interpreting manuals or work order.
  • Face masks are required per CDC guidelines, effective 10/1/2021
  • EH approved composite safety shoes/boots must be worn while on NGK property.
  • Hearing protection may be required while performing certain job duties.
  • Respirators may be required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions.
  • Chemical goggles or safety glasses with side shields may be required while performing certain job duties.
  • Welder’s gloves, helmet, and sleeves/apron/coat may be required while performing certain job duties.
  • Task appropriate gloves may be required while performing certain job duties.
  • Chemical resistant suits, PVC aprons and/or chemical resistant boot covers may be required while performing certain job duties
  • Regularly scheduled testing may be performed for; lung capacity (i.e. spirometry test), vision, hearing, and respirator fit

Nice To Haves

  • No disciplinary actions within the last year (low level points warnings may be waived if there are special circumstances that can be, or are, documented).
  • Completion of the current learner’s assessment and other training requirements.
  • Completed Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).

  • Coaches, trains, and provides technical guidance to team members within and outside of the department. Gains commitment to department and factory goals through effective coaching and communication. Encourages member development and suggests avenues for improving or acquiring new competencies
  • Collect and record data for daily and weekly records
  • Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) activities as needed
  • Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials
