About The Position

The Maintenance Technical Leader is responsible for observing the workload of their work crew to ensure plant and departmental goals are achieved according to established priorities. This role optimizes equipment reliability, throughput, and product quality through established practices. The Technical Leader provides technical and organizational expertise, serves as an on-shift technical resource for maintenance and production personnel, and expedites problem-solving to prevent process delays. They are responsible for entering emergent calls and downtime events into the tracking system, organizing and implementing minor corrective maintenance items, and ensuring standards for cost, quality, labor, safety, and housekeeping are maintained. Additionally, this role involves coaching, training, and providing technical guidance to team members, collecting and recording data, and participating in Preventive Maintenance (PM), Machine Maintenance Operator Leader (MMOL), and Global 5S activities. The position also requires adherence to Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering or industrial maintenance role.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance/reliability concepts and theory.
  • Familiar with a wide range of engineering disciplines. Able to advise technicians in diagnosing equipment problems, replacing, testing, and adjusting components, and reading/interpreting manuals or work orders.
  • Must be on current job for a minimum of two (2) years for job grades 8 or higher.
  • No disciplinary actions within the last year (low level points warnings may be waived if there are special circumstances that can be, or are, documented).
  • Completion of the current learner’s assessment and other training requirements.
  • Completed Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance with technical and organizational expertise to ensure departmental priorities are achieved.
  • Serves as an on shift technical resource to maintenance and production personnel, for guidance and troubleshooting.
  • Expedites problem solving to prevent process delays or re-establish product flow in an expeditious manner. Assists with technical issues, equipment performance issues, root cause analysis, training, and compliance issues.
  • Enters emergent calls and downtime events into tracking system with all technical details associated with the event, including root cause identification.
  • Organizes, tracks, and implements minor follow up corrective maintenance items/process improvement projects.
  • Ensures established standards are maintained for cost, quality, labor, safety, and housekeeping.
  • Coaches, trains, and provides technical guidance to team members within and outside of the department. Gains commitment to department and factory goals through effective coaching and communication. Encourages member development and suggests avenues for improving or acquiring new competencies.
  • Collects and records data for daily and weekly records.
  • Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) activities as needed.
  • Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials.
