About The Position

This role is responsible for performing planned and unscheduled maintenance tasks on production lines to ensure safety and minimize downtime. The technician will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various types of machinery, including those with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC components. This includes setting up machinery, conducting preventive maintenance, and responding to emergency repairs. The position requires the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings, use various shop equipment, and document all work performed. A strong understanding of safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, is essential. The role also involves contributing to a clean and organized work environment using 5S methodology.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalence or technical school graduate or equivalent of training or experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, preferably in automotive interior trim and systems.
  • PLC, Lateral Logic, Robotics, Hydraulics, Pneumatic, and Electrical experience required.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical abilities.
  • PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley / Siemens).
  • Experience with robotics (preferably Fanuc).
  • Experience with vision systems.
  • Physical and mental stamina.
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Required to provide own tools.

Responsibilities

  • Performs planned and unscheduled maintenance tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager or called for by Production Line Leaders or Supervisor.
  • Retrieves P.M.s and W.O.s for production lines prioritizing in the order of safety issues, production needs, and then preventive maintenance.
  • Follows proper procedures for Maintenance stores.
  • Keeps work areas cleaned and organized on a daily basis.
  • Repairs items on production lines without production interruption.
  • Instigates scheduled work orders for all lines.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner following lockout tag out procedure and all known safety practices.
  • Reviews items posted on the maintenance office board for scheduled jobs needing to be completed.
  • Utilizes technical support and information (Maintenance Manuals, Prints, etc.) to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Returns all company-owned specialty tools or gages when used on production equipment.
  • Contributes to maintaining a clean and organized shop area by using 5 “s” methodology and 5 ”s” reference state.
  • Documents all work performed during shift in Work Order with notification by the end of shift report.
  • Completes work orders and PM orders filling in needed information and turning these into the Supervisor.
  • Reports all parts used and any low inventory items to Supervisor.
  • Keeps spare parts cabinet organized.
  • Completes other job-related tasks as assigned.
  • Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Conducts emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  • Utilizes mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance.
  • Operates equipment in maintenance work area: drill press, mill, welder, lathe, plasma cutter.
  • Complies with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Checks control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
  • Installs appliances and equipment.
  • Collaborates with workers and other professionals during renovations.
