Responsibilities

  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots.
  • Basic understanding of PLC programming principles and techniques with consideration for operator and equipment safety.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect and repair any malfunctions.
  • Performs both routine and repair maintenance on industrial pumps.
  • Performs both routine and repair maintenance on scrap conveyors.
  • Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors, operators, or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Understand and adhere to wiring standards as specified in NFPA 79 (NEC) code books and use “best practices” for wiring equipment.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs tables, benches, racks and other metal structures.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Must use electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
  • Must complete required classes in accordance with designated General Repair II Program.
  • Understands, supports, and implements the company safety policies; Quality policy, housekeeping; and continuous improvement skills into daily work habits.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Understands and adheres to all safety guidelines as required by OSHA and specified in the L&W mechanical/electrical standard (BMES) document.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • Able and willing to work any shift assigned.
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
