About The Position

The Maintenance Tech Level 2 will be responsible for facility/safety preventive maintenance and will assist other Maintenance Personnel in performing predictive, preventive/corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and installation within a high volume, continuous-run work environment. This role involves performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations. The position requires maintaining clean and organized work areas, ensuring all maintenance shop equipment and the facility are maintained at peak performance, and recording actions electronically. The role also involves attending meetings, participating in problem-solving, completing assigned training, and following JSAs/SOPs. Flexibility and a commitment to working safely are required. The work environment involves working on/near high-speed machinery with various energy sources, potential exposure to hazards, and exposure to wet/humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles. Plant temperatures can range from 50°F to 110°F.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience in general machine and fitting shop practice.
  • Experience in welding.
  • Experience in maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Experience in electrical systems.
  • Experience in hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in pipefitting.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform calculations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, dial indicators, pi tapes, and manometers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to bend, turn, twist and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to work all shifts and weekends depending on business needs.
  • Willingness to work independently, as well as in a team environment, solving problems.
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated, a self-starter.
  • Willing to help set team and department goals, and be willing to cross train/work.

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance.
  • Regularly climb portable and fixed ladders and stairs and perform tasks at elevations and on elevated platforms.
  • Climb in, on, and around equipment and machinery to make adjustments, repairs, and perform maintenance, requiring good balance and hand, eye, foot coordination.
  • May have to work in confined areas or awkward positions in order to complete tasks.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety work procedures and safe work practices at all times.
  • Perform facility/safety preventive maintenance.
  • Assist other Maintenance Personnel in performing predictive, preventive/corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and installation.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, and clean-up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks.
  • Ensure all maintenance shop equipment and facility are maintained at peak performance.
  • Attend meetings, participate in problem solving and completing assigned training, follow JSAs/SOPs and all other tasks assigned by your supervisor.
  • Record actions including repairs, parts movement, and time electronically.
  • Work independently, as well as in a team environment, solving problems.
  • Keep supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations.
