About The Position

This role is responsible for facility and safety preventive maintenance, assisting other maintenance personnel with predictive, preventive/corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and installation within a high volume, continuous-run work environment. The position involves performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam system repairs and installations, maintaining clean work areas, and ensuring shop equipment and the facility are maintained at peak performance. The role also includes attending meetings, participating in problem-solving, completing assigned training, following JSAs/SOPs, and electronically recording actions. Flexibility, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience in general machine and fitting shop practice, welding, maintenance troubleshooting, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and pipefitting.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform calculations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, dial indicators, pi tapes, and manometers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance.
  • Regularly climb portable and fixed ladders and stairs and perform tasks at elevations and on elevated platforms.
  • Climb in, on, and around equipment and machinery to make adjustments, repairs, and perform maintenance, requiring good balance and hand, eye, foot coordination.
  • May have to work in confined areas or awkward positions in order to complete tasks.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to bend, turn, twist and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts and weekends depending on business needs.
  • Must be willing to work independently, as well as in a team environment, solving problems.
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated, a self-starter, willing help set team and department goals, and be willing to cross train/work.
  • Flexibility and a commitment to working safe are required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety work procedures and safe work practices.
  • Perform facility/safety preventive maintenance.
  • Assist other Maintenance Personnel with predictive, preventive/corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and installation.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Ensure all maintenance shop equipment and facility are maintained at peak performance.
  • Attend meetings, participate in problem solving, and complete assigned training.
  • Follow JSAs/SOPs and all other tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Record actions including repairs, parts movement, and time electronically.
  • Keep supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations.
