Maintenance Tech III

Allegion•Fontana, CA

About The Position

The Maintenance Tech III performs preventative, predictive, and routine machine and facility maintenance, independently and in coordination with operations personnel. The role works closely with Production Leads to support preventive maintenance for equipment such as metal shears, presses, punches, conventional and CNC machines, forklifts, and welders. The technician also supports continuous improvement in safety, quality, 5S, and manufacturing processes; maintains clean and organized work areas; follows company safety and conduct rules; and participates in cross-training. A flexible schedule is required to accommodate overtime and start-time changes according to production volume. The position applies electrical theory to test, modify, assemble, install, and maintain industrial machinery and electrical control equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; performing preventive and corrective maintenance; troubleshooting failures with test equipment and hand tools; maintaining CNC machine tools and electrical systems up to 480V three-phase; and performing general building and facility electrical maintenance. The technician inspects systems for hazards and defects, tests for compatibility and safety, adjusts devices and controls, connects wiring, plans layouts for new machinery and fixtures, and advises management when continued equipment operation may be hazardous. The work is performed in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment with high noise, exposure to metals, lubricants, solvents, gases, dust, metal debris, moving machinery and vehicles, and areas with uncontrolled hot or cold temperatures. The role involves frequent work at heights, movement around and on equipment, and lifting or pushing loads.
