About The Position

Assist in equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures in the operation of the facility where employed. This position is essential and involves repairing, replacing, and correcting equipment to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements. The role requires consulting with engineers and vendors as needed, accomplishing layout work for projects, and troubleshooting equipment. Adherence to safety requirements, including Simmons' policies and government regulations concerning safety, environment, vehicle operation, and handling of food products, ingredients, and packaging, is mandatory. The position also emphasizes teamwork, fostering cohesiveness, and participating in team meetings and the development of team concepts, programs, and policies. Team members are expected to identify and resolve issues that lack cohesiveness to achieve synergy within the organization. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) is expected, along with understanding the role in supporting these systems and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. Requirements

Must have experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Ability to pass a fit test, physical, and pulmonary (lung capacity) function test.
H2S Monitor and full-face respirator.

Responsibilities

Repairs, replaces, corrects or affects equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
Consults with engineers and vendors as needed.
Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed.
Will be able to troubleshoot equipment.
Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities of this position complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients and any related items.
Participates as a member of the Team.
Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
